Today I am sharing a painting by my daughter – “Madeline – a Self Portrait in Oil”.
This was a very special and meaningful project for Madeline because it is the very last painting she completed during her high school art class. Madeline will be graduating this Friday. Β During her four years of high school Madeline sometimes struggled with the usual situations that most young people do. She really didn’t enjoy most classes. Her extremely creative and artistic personality was not built to endure the more left brained curriculum.
Art class was the light shining in the high school tunnel. Every minute that she was able to, she would find her way to the only classroom in the building where she felt comfortable.
Thanks for visiting!

I hope she continues to follow her passion. The painting is beautiful.

Hey there Sophie!! How are you?!?
Thanks!! I know I’m biased but I agree it is beautiful!!! I’m so glad she had art to look forward to otherwise it would have been a very very long 4 years. π

Hey! I’m good, thanks. Getting out of a pretty rough past couple of weeks (2/3 kids are currently on antibiotics, my dad was hospitalized but he’s ok now). And mom bias is totally legit π

Madeline did an excellent job with the self-portrait. It is beautiful. I love how she captured her youth with the twinkle in her eyes. She’s a stunning young woman. I wish her much success in her future endeavors.

Thank you so much Lyn. I was drawn to the way she painted her eyes too. That’s what I was trying to capture with the close up picture. I completely support any and all artistic opportunities she may want to pursue. π

She sounds so much like me. π and I hope her career path doesn’t dwindle from the creativeness she has (like it happened with me). It’s taken me many years of unhappiness to understand that it’s just not possible to be happy if you’re not doing what you love. Wishing her all the happiness and strength to pursue her dreams. β€οΈ
