Super Easy 3 Ingredient Fudge

Every Wednesday my son Bill comes over for dinner. I always make him a nice home cooked meal and send him home with some leftovers. I also make dessert every Wednesday too. It is the only night of the week that dessert is guaranteed.

On the menu last week:

Breaded Pork Chops

pork chops

These delicious pork chops were brined for about 6 hours in heavily salted water. I breaded the pork chops and fried them till golden brown in my cast iron skillet. The chops were finished off in the oven along with some Roasted Sweet Potatoes.

And for dessert: Chocolate Fudge!

Super Easy No Fail 3 Ingredient Fudge Recipe

This is the recipe that I’ve used to make fudge for at least 20 years.

  • 3 cups chocolate chips
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 oz)
  • 1/4 cup butter (1/2 stick)

Place all 3 ingredients in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave for 1 minute, stir, then microwave again in 30 second increments until all of the ingredients are melted. The fudge should have a gorgeous satiny sheen and smooth texture. Line an 8 x 8 pan with parchment paper or wax paper. Spread the hot fudge mixture evenly into lined pan. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours. Remove from pan and cut into bite size squares.

This is the base recipe that I use to make pounds and pounds of fudge. Substitute any kind of baking chips to make a variety of flavors. Mix in any kind of nuts or dried fruits, or take it up  a notch with a shot of kahlua or coffee brandy!

  • Peanut Butter Fudge – use peanut butter baking chips instead of chocolate chips
  • White Chocolate Caramel Fudge – use caramel flavored condensed milk and white chocolate chips
  • White Chocolate Maraschino Cherry Fudge – use white chocolate chips and stir in chopped maraschino cherries into melted chips
  • Mint Chocolate Fudge – use mint chocolate chips
  • Home made Chunky Bars – stir in raisins and peanuts into melted chips
  • Toasted Coconut Chocolate Fudge – stir toasted coconut into the melted chips

During the holidays I make several batches of different flavors fudge and wrap them up in holiday themed plastic containers or put a few pieces in plastic wrap and tie up with some festive ribbons as gifts for friends and family.

  1. Wow. This is super easy and super delicious looking. When I make fudge i’m at the stove stirring continuously. I use coconut milk, sugar and condensed milk, but I should definitely try your way. I still haven’t gotten around to the fried chicken or the cinnamon yummies yet but someday!!!!!

  2. I have been using the same fudge recipe for years. It’s so good, and never lasts long around here. 😊 I think I found the recipe in one of my 4-H cookbooks.

  3. Tami ~ I’ve been wanting some fudge, but the thought of stirring over a hot stove makes my cravings go away. I think they’re back! I have some Ghirardelli 60% Cacao chips and I always have sweetened condensed milk for when I need a Key Lime Pie. I think it will become fudge… tomorrow maybe.

    1. Oh fancy chips!!!! Yummmm! I giggled at “when I need a Key Lime Pie” – I noticed that you said “need” and not “need to make” – that implies that you must have the same craving habits that I do! It also reminded me that I haven’t made key lime pie in a while!! I always have the ingredients on hand to make this fudge and it’s so easy. That’s what makes this recipe so awesome/dangerous!! 😀

    1. I always make sure when I cut it up that I make some very little squares for myself and then bigger ones for everyone else. It is the perfect little size pop of chocolate to beat that sweet craving. 😀
